During a time when most people in Korea suffered from severe hunger, our founder and late Chairman Kang Joong-hee welcomed guests with warm rice cooked in a cauldron. This cauldron has since become a lasting emblem of our founding spirit, embodying warmth and care for the community.
Chairman Kang Joong-hee's legacy lives on in our management philosophy, guiding Dong-A ST to this day.'Jeongdo' originates from the old adage meaning "the way of righteousness" (正道).We have expanded this meaning by incorporating the character '鼎' (cauldron), symbolizing our vision to pursue what is right and to build trust by sharing warmth with society.
Jeongdo management (鼎道經營) is our statement of social responsibility management and articulates our commitment to grow together with our society. Upon his appointment as president in 1975, Honorary Chairman Kang Shin-ho defined Dong-A ST's credo that integrates social responsibility (CSR) with our founding values of Jeongdo, integrity, and compassion, which remains our bedrock of purpose to this day.
Stakeholders in CSR include employees, communities, governments, shareholders, and consumers.
As a company, we have the responsibility to guarantee our employees' fundamental rights and welfare, foster talents, and advance health and wellness through new drug development and environmental protection. We are also responsible for fulfilling our obligations to the government and enhancing corporate sustainability by generating profits for our stakeholders. But most of all, we are responsible for creating a virtuous cycle of social responsibility by providing excellent products and services to the consumers.
In line with ISO 26000 on social responsibility, President Kang Jung-seok further built on our Jeongdo philosophy by emphasizing management that values human rights, environment, legal compliance, consumers, and philanthropy, with distinct methodologies and practical indicators.
